Sjors has become our very best trail horse. Pictured is Michelle Latham riding Sjors amongst cattle along the John Wayne trail in mid June 2007. Sjors really enjoys the outdoors. Michelle was able to drop the reins and let him go at a lovely, relaxed (yet energetic) pace. We also went through the tunnels and over the high-bridges out of Easton. Sjors never hesitated and isn't phased by the high-winds of Ellensburg or the distractions along the trails. He found the cattle amusing and was just as content in a western saddle as he is under the dressage saddle. Did we mention that several Harley Davidsons went right by us during our dressage test in Yakima and he didn't even flinch?

Sjors has not been taken to a keuring as an adult. Come see him at the fall keuring in Monroe, Washington!
We've scanned a copy from the Merriestammen boek that speaks about Sjors' Dam - Djopie; Grand Dam - Sjoke; and Great Grand Dam - Gwenda. It is only a special horse who gets this much "press" in the mare book.

Test Scores
|
| |
Sjors is consistently scoring in the 70th percentile in Intro A and B. Some of the comments included how obedient he was in his walk/trot transitions and how he paid attention to his work despite distractions.
He has been ridden by an amateur rider for the past year, and has just entered full time training with Kat Napier to further his dressage training and prepare him for the fall keuring. His lateral work is established. He has enough suspension that piaffe and passage should come fairly naturally to him.
However, he loves being out in the wilderness, in your pockets, or just hanging out with the other horses. What a great character he is.

Sjors has gentlemanly ground manners. Pictured is my little cousin Chris getting a horse kiss. (Photo by Kerry Hall).
