Bryan Quinsey Resigns
|
| |
Following is an email from our FHANA Board of Directors:
"By now many of you have heard that Executive Director Bryan Quinsey has resigned for personal and professional reasons. The Board Directors have left their families and jobs to go the FHANA office and continue business as usual. Arlene DeBoer, Marc DiLeo and Terri Ray, along with Administrative Assistant Kim Hopson, have all been in the office this past week to answer your questions, register, and transfer your registration papers. Next week, Rick Simonetti will be in the office and will be conducting interviews for the Executive Director's position.
We understand you may have concerns at this time and we are here to assure you that the next Executive Director will be just as qualified as Bryan Quinsey. We ask the members of FHANA to have faith in this Board to see that the office continues all functions with no interruptions in service.
Upcoming events (such as the Keurings, Worlds Show with Mare and Gelding Central Inspection, and the website, database rebuild) are all being worked on. We will be sending out details on these events as they are finalized.
We look forward to the future of FHANA and ask you to be patient and supportive during the hiring process for the next Executive Director.
Sincerely,
Your Board of Directors "

Volunteer of the Year - Judi Knapp - Congratulations Judi!!!
|
| |
Reprinted from article by JR Blumenthal:
The 2006 recipient of the award is Judi Knapp of Sisters, Oregon.
Judi Knapp, along with her husband Jim, joined the FHANA in 1987 when they purchased two Friesian mares. In 1992, she began to work with then-President Miles Heseldin to translate and create the Rules and Regulations of the FHANA based upon the rules of the Koninklijke Vereniging Het Friesch Paarden Stamboek (KFPS - the mother studbook of the Friesian Horse based in the Netherlands). At that time very little information about this breed was available in English. The translation required Judi to take several trips to the Netherlands.
Since then Judi has been involved with the administration (actually housing the FHANA office for a period of time in her home), marketing (the horses depicted in early promotional programs were taken at her farm), and breeding of Friesian horses.
We are pleased to recognize the ongoing contributions of Mrs. Knapp to the FHANA and the Friesian Horse in North America by presenting her with an award that will forever bear her name - The Judi Knapp Volunteer of the Year Award.
In the future, the award will be presented annually at FHANA's Annual General Membership Meeting. Nomination forms can be obtained by contacting the FHANA office in Lexington, Kentucky.

Tribute to Goffert - Our condolences go out to Iron Spring Farms and Belinda for the loss of Goffert. Forward from Bryan Quinsey Goffert 369 Rest in Peace Author: Iron Spring Farm Date: 02/13/2007 Goffert 369 Rest in Peace 6/14/94 - 2/13/07 It is with much sadness that we announce that Goffert 369 was euthanized February 13, 2007. He suffered from colic and although every effort was made to save him the damage was irreparable. "Herbie" was a very special horse in every way. He was not only an unforgettable Grand Prix performer and sire of champions, but also a real superstar. In Holland he was treated with respect and great admiration. We also send our condolences to his rider and trainer Belinda Narin Wertman. He was one of a kind and we feel blessed for the time we had with him. FHANA offers our condolences to Mary Alice Malone and staff at Iron Spring Farm.

Teade approved on Offspring
|
| |
Author: Christine DeHerrera Date: 01/25/2007
Reprinted from Performance Horse Registry
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Iron Spring Farm’s popular Friesian stallion Teade 392 was recently approved on offspring by the FPS. He was the only American-based stallion approved during the testing held in December. Not only is this a terrific accolade, it is also an assurance of the quality of Teade’s youngsters, who have been winning at shows and receiving top honors at keurings.
“The FPS are very stringent in their assessment of stallions and their offspring, so this is a tremendous honor for Teade,” said Mary Alice Malone, who rode the handsome stallion to a reserve championship at the 2006 GAIG/United States Dressage Federation Region I Championships. “Teade’s a wonderful horse and sire. He reliably passes on his excellent temperament and athletic ability to his youngsters.”
This accomplishment tops off an impressive year for Teade 392. Not only did he receive the reserve championship at the regional show, but he also won numerous classes at dressage shows from Florida to New Jersey. His daughter Tiramisu ISF was the Champion Filly at the FHANA Inspection held at Iron Spring Farm. His son Valdor ISF was the Champion Colt at the same inspection. Daughter Vivian van Teade was named Grand Champion at the FHANA Inspection in Michigan. Teade 392 is by Anton 343 out of Irma van ‘T Zuid S, by Pike.
