Fall 2009

Brammetje has been delivered to his new family in Spokane.
Femke arrived safely at Michele's home. Another successful import!
Picture is of me and Ide. I've been lax on updates because I'm riding instead of sitting in front of the computer.

Cowboy Dressage
 |
Pictured is Eitan Beth-Halachmy at a recent "Cowboy Dressage" clinic at the Fire Run Morgan Ranch in the Seattle area. By attending this clinic, I was brought back to my "cowgirl" heritage and enjoyed a fresh perspective. I also gained some valuable insight that I will apply when starting our young mare, Ylsa, this summer. While I am still studying in the more traditional, classical style, I appreciate Eitan's perspective and believe he is promoting a fabulous niche that allows for a less stuffy style and a lot of fun for the rider with a more Western background. If you're interested in more information about Eitan, his web page is http://www.cowboydressage.com Also, you may be interested in learning more about Fire Run Farm http://www.firerunfarm.com/. Thank you to Kurt and Teri for their hospitality during the clinic and for sharing their beautiful morgans with us. Thank you to Ginger, the Farm Manager, and Rod Fletcher, the Fire Run Farm trainer, for your hard work. Oh yes.... and WHO made those ribs at the BBQ? Yum!

Johana in Training with Lily Wilson
 |
Johana is in full time dressage training with Lily Wilson. She had to scratch from the WEC show, due to unforseen circumstances. However, Johana continues her training and was ready to go! Lily says Jojo learns quickly and progresses every day. Lily Wilson recently attended a Janet Brown Foy clinic in Redmond, Washington. Lily will be moving to a new facility, Pumkin Farm, in the Monroe, Washington area.

Back to flying....
 |
You may have noticed that there was not a lot of hullabaloo about the stallion keuring on our web page. During the stallion show, I was in full time recurrent training to fly the Boeing 767. We have been to the stallion keuring many times and kept abreast of developments via cellphone and internet. We are proud of our affiliates in the Netherlands, the Wulms family, for the acceptance of a stallion born on their farm (Seppe) for the 70 day testing. So, things are changing here at Tailwind Friesians. You will see us advertise fewer, but higher quality horses. You will deal directly with the Wulms family when you are inquiring about their horses. We will still uphold the utmost of service, but our services are remaining a hobby, a non-profit activity, and a passion that runs as deeply as our love of flying. Our farm is fully attended and in capable hands during our flights and we are focusing more on breeding, riding, and developing only the highest quality horses in the world. We look forward to a bright 2008.

Click here to see our trainer, Tommy Allen, working with our star mare Johana. And, coming Soon, profile on Claire Layman; our on-site "ranch hand" and previous Ellensburg Rodeo Queen. Zega has gone to a wonderful new home in Oregon. Congratulations to Siri and Troy Tobey. They have purchased 1st premie star mare Folkje and two lovely fillies. Their gelding, Murk, earned a 2nd Premie Ster rating at the Monroe Keuring and also the grand champion title. Murk was imported by Tailwind Friesians.

Carriage Expo
 |
Part of my travels included the Paard & Koets Carriage Expo in Den Bosch. While many of us enjoy the stallion keuring each January, this driving event is something to consider if you are interested in the horse and carriage and want to see something new and different (and avoid the crowds). Click here for more info. Expo is done for this year, but put this on your November calendar for 2008.
