BLACK DIAMOND TRANSLATION SERVICES
Hello,
First of all I want to thank my friend Laurie who's given me the opportunity to introduce myself to you on her webpage. Brought together through our love for the Friesian horse, we enjoy our friendship.
I was born in the Northern part of the Netherlands, home-country of the Friesians. As I grew up in the city of Groningen my dad introduced me to horses and I had my first riding lessons aged 10. Aged 12 we moved out of the city and went to the country, where one of my uncles owned a riding school. Than I was offered to ride a horse of a nearby farmer and I rode this gelding named Rinaldo for some years. However, one day he was sold and I was so sad. My dad bought me a horse of my own and I called him Yuri. Later on I had my mare Pavera and she lived to be 31 years old. Both my parents have been of great support to me in my passion for horses and during my dressage career. After finishing school I worked many jobs but the 12 years I have been a dentists-assistant I liked very much. I also owned a museum for 6 years and this I really loved!
The years have passed and I'm 51 now, being a single mother of four. My girls, aged 19 and 18, both ride a Friesian mare; the boys, aged 26 and 21, are into cars. Because of some health-problems I haven't been riding for over 5 years now but I will try again this spring.
Now I live in the beautiful old village called Dwingeloo, in the provence of Drenthe.(Netherlands) First descriptions of the village are from the 1300's. Many very old farms can be found here, the oldest ones are from around the 1700's. The village is surrounded by woods, heather-fields and moors. People here are very friendly and everyone is working together in order to keep all the old customs, buildings and cultural heritage. Part of this is the dancing group "De Dwingeler Daansers" (working on a webpage now) founded 27 years ago. The dancers wear costume that was common in Drenthe around the 1900's. I'm a dancing member and secretary. I developed a passion for old costume and jewelry worn all over the Netherlands and I have a small library on the subject that is still extending. I like to read and I like to write.
I also have a passion for Friesian horses - who are my black diamonds - as well as for the Dutch and English language. Over the years I built up considerable experience in Dutch and English writing. I have published in Dutch newspapers and some of my poems are published in books; occasionaly I will write Dutch webtext and I correct and edit in Dutch language. I also started doing translations English-Dutch and v.v.
As a native-speaker of the Dutch language I can offer you thorough and secure service in translating.
